December 19, 2021

With the end of the semester here, I wanted to take a moment to wish you all happy holidays. I hope you and your families have some quality time together during the break and stay healthy. It' been a whirlwind of a semester, but we all made and now it's time to relax and celebrate!

Reminders...

-School Resumes: January 3rd, 2022

-Sun Tran will be extending their free ride passes for an additional 6 months. If students would like a bus pass, they should hang on to their blue bus cards (if they still have it) for the remainder of this school year but they will not need a pass. Rides will still be free with Sun Tran.

-For students who plan to continue participating in the COVID pool testing next semester, don't forget, testing takes place every Tuesday during conference periods between 8-8:55 a.m. in the auditorium lobby.

-TUSD report cards are paperless. Student's final grades are posted. The grades you see today in the system are the final semester grades. Next semester, starting January 3rd, is a fresh start. The slate is wiped clean and everyone gets a fresh start. Make the most of it and start strong.

-Course selection for next school year is right around the corner.

Rincon High School offers many Advanced Learning Experiences including dual enrollment, career and technical education (both on site and through Pima JTED),  and advancement placement. All programs are free for families. Please encourage your students and children to take advantage of these amazing opportunities. The classes they choose to take now can save them time and money later. Many students can earn certifications during high school class time, allowing them to be fully trained and to seek full-time employment after graduation.

Dual Enrollment - Dual enrollment classes allow high school juniors and seniors to take a Pima Community College class at Rincon and receive credit for both college and high school. Recent studies prove that dual enrollment programs can help the transition from high school to college and improve students' college attendance and graduation rates. Rincon currently offers dual enrollment in math, writing, chemistry, auto, and business.

Career and technical education (CTE) - CTE classes use hands-on experience and application tests to teach high school students specific career skills. Many students earn certifications, allowing them to get hired in stable, well-paying jobs after graduation. Rincon currently offers Digital Photo, Film and TV, Auto and HVAC.

Pima JTED - Pima JTED offers additional CTE programs to sophomores, juniors and seniors, free of charge. Students may attend Pima JTED classes at one of our Central Campuses, located throughout Pima County. Classes are held in the afternoon/evening, after school hours. Students are responsible for transportation. Pima JTED is hosting their annual showcase on January 8, 2022 from 10am-2pm at JTED @ The Bridges. Come check out all the programs they have to offer and meet with counselors who can answer questions and provide additional information about prerequisites and registration. Registration begins at midnight on January 18. Many programs are highly competitive and will fill up fast.  For more information, visit the Pima JTED website.

Advanced Placement (AP) Classes - AP classes allow students to take special high school courses that can earn them college credit and/or qualify them for more advanced classes when they begin college. These rigorous AP classes look great on college applications. AP is highly encouraged for students interested in attending a 4-year university; however, all students are welcome. Rincon currently offers AP classes in Literature, Language and Composition, Spanish, Physics, World History and American History.
